Contact Lens Fitting

Contact lenses offer you the freedom to move without glasses – but only if they are properly selected and applied. At IMOOPTIK, we have the latest equipment to assess visual acuity and fit contact lenses. Our optometrists will measure your vision, evaluate the condition of your cornea and tear film, and recommend lenses tailored exactly to your eyes and lifestyle.Since contact lenses sit directly on your eyes, they are not something to try randomly. Incorrect curvature, unsuitable materials, or improper handling can increase the risk of irritation, inflammation, and other complications. Professional fitting greatly reduces these risks: the optometrist selects lenses based on your eye's parameters, teaches you how to properly insert, remove, and care for them, and sets a schedule for regular check-ups. By following hygiene routines and attending check-ups, you can enjoy the comfort of lenses without unnecessary worries.

  • DNEye Scanner Eye Examination

At our optical stores - Obchodná BA, Senica, Vrbové, we examine your vision using the latest Rodenstock DNEye scanner.

We measure intraocular pressure, pachymetry – corneal thickness, opacity – clarity of eye media (cornea, lens, vitreous), eye aberrations – specific optical defects, and corneal topography. Based on these results, we produce custom eyeglass lenses with biometric values.

Contact Lens Fitting Process

1. Visual Acuity

First, besides taking your medical history, we conduct a visual acuity test similar to that for glasses. Then we adjust the prescription for contact lenses. We also measure anatomical parameters of the cornea: diameter and curvature.

2. Anterior Eye Segment Examination

Using a slit lamp, we primarily check for any pathological conditions in the front segment of the eye, especially the cornea and conjunctiva. Assessing the tear film condition is also very important.

3. Choosing the Type of Contact Lenses

After considering factors like your environment and the activities during which you'll wear the lenses, we recommend the most suitable type. Your health status, medications, allergies, and smoking habits also play a significant role.

4. "Special" Contact Lenses

If you have astigmatism or need multifocal contact lenses, fitting these lenses is more time-consuming (requiring 2 to 3 visits to ensure the best vision correction) and the trial lenses must be custom-made.

5. Training on Inserting and Removing Contact Lenses

The goal of this training is to teach you to insert and remove your lenses independently. We will explain and advise on proper handling and lens care. The duration of this step varies, but rest assured, we will help you master it. After successful insertion, a brief walk helps stabilize the lenses.

6. Lens Check

Finally, we assess the fitting, check your vision with the lenses, and discuss your subjective experience. Sometimes a follow-up check is needed about a month after fitting.

7. Conclusion of the Examination

Leave contact lens selection to the professionals. Random lens trials pose risks to your eyes, including complications and infections. Proper hygiene and regular check-ups allow you to wear lenses comfortably over the long term. We recommend an annual check-up for daily disposable lenses and every six months for biweekly and monthly lenses.
