Professional eye examination

Our experienced optometrists are here to help you find the right vision correction tailored to your individual needs. Please note that the duration of an eye exam may vary, typically lasting between 20 and 45 minutes depending on its complexity.Every minute you spend with us is an investment in your health and comfort. Preparing for your exam is important: we recommend arriving well-rested, ideally for an early appointment. If you work extensively with computers, it's best to come before your workday starts to avoid unnecessary strain.Contact lens wearers must remove lenses at least two hours before the exam and attend wearing glasses. Eye exams are free with the purchase of glasses over €69.

  • DNEye scanner examination

At our optical stores in Obchodná BA, Senica, and Vrbové, we use the latest Rodenstock DNEye scanner to examine your eyes.

We measure intraocular pressure, pachymetry (corneal thickness), opacity of eye media (cornea, lens, vitreous), eye aberrations (various optical defects), and corneal topography. Based on these, we create customized eyeglass lenses using biometric data.

Preparation before your exam

Working with computers

For clients who work with computers or other devices, we recommend scheduling your exam before work or during breaks.

Contact lenses

Contact lens wearers must remove lenses at least 2 hours before the exam and attend wearing glasses. For optimal comfort and accuracy, avoid wearing lenses for 48 hours before your appointment.

Rest is important

We recommend getting a good night's sleep before your exam.

Eye examination process

1. Medical history

Our optometrist will discuss your current vision issues, past eye conditions, illnesses, and surgeries. Your occupation and time spent at the computer will also be considered, as well as the distance from your computer screen if you experience vision problems while working.

2. Visual acuity test

We assess your natural visual acuity using special characters displayed on an LCD screen 5 meters away. We observe how well you can read these characters without glasses at different sizes. The lines you read are numbered, which helps us determine your visual acuity.

3. Objective refraction

After assessing your visual acuity, we measure your vision using an autorefractor keratometer. This device determines your objective prescription, including sphere and cylinder values.

4. Subjective refraction

This part showcases the skill of the optometrist. We will place trial lenses in a frame, and you'll read characters on an LCD screen through them. Based on your responses, we determine your exact prescription and astigmatism. We finalize the correction using red-green tests, followed by an important binocular vision test to assess how well both eyes work together.

5. Prescription verification

This is the final real-world check. You'll wear your chosen prescription and walk around our optical store to observe your surroundings. This helps us confirm the strength of your lenses and cylinder in practice. We then fine-tune your correction to your satisfaction. Finally, we test your near focusing ability.

6. Conclusion of the exam

The exam results include a report of your current prescriptions for distance, near, or other work distances. Based on this, we can make your glasses right here in our store. The eye exam is free with a glasses purchase. You are not obligated to buy glasses from us after the exam. You can have an exam here even if you've chosen glasses elsewhere — we will provide the report, which you can use to get glasses at another store. However, having everything done under one roof is usually better for the customer.

Eye examination

An experienced optometrist will measure your vision and set your correction according to your needs. Please come rested, without contact lenses, with your current glasses and any recent eye doctor report. We do not examine children under 14 years; clients aged 15 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Intraocular pressure measurement

Painless, non-contact measurement of intraocular pressure using the DNEye Scanner. Elevated pressure is a major risk factor for glaucoma and often shows no symptoms—regular checks help detect it early. If values are high, we recommend an eye doctor visit.

Biometric eye examination with DNEye® Scanner

A comprehensive, non-contact measurement of the eye at thousands of points: intraocular pressure, corneal thickness, clarity of eye media, optical defects, and corneal topography. From these measurements, we create Rodenstock individualized lenses calculated precisely for your eyes.

1. Contact lens fitting

Anyone interested in wearing contact lenses should undergo a professional initial fitting. This exam is for first-time wearers and includes a full refractive exam, front eye segment check, corneal measurements, and training on lens handling. This exam only needs to be done once. Trial lenses are included. A follow-up check is recommended after one to two weeks of wearing.

€49.00

60 minutes
2. Contact lens fitting

This exam is for contact lens wearers who have already had their initial fitting with us and need to change or try a different lens type, or if their vision quality has decreased. It includes a full refractive exam, front eye segment check, and lens trials if prescription changes. It's recommended every two years, or annually for older clients or those with demanding eye tasks.

€35.00

30 minutes
Contact lens check-up

Contact lens wearers should have regular check-ups with lenses in place. The front eye segment, lens condition, and vision acuity with lenses are assessed. Annual check-ups are recommended; if lenses are worn frequently (5-7 days per week), check-ups every six months are advised.
